ReGenerate is a think tank set on changing the landscape of business in the UK. Working with senior leaders across government, investment and business, it pushes for the systemic reforms that would make purpose-driven business the new norm.

Research does much of that work. Rigorous studies, sharpened by the team’s own analysis, become policy proposals and reports that show government and others how to support businesses to profitably do good.

The brief

An enormous number of agencies, organisations and individuals are all trying to put ideas in front of government. ReGenerate knew that for its findings to be engaged with, the publications carrying them would need to be compelling in content and in aesthetic.

The reports themselves ran from 50 to over 120 pages, packed with graphics originally created in Google Docs and Slides. Those two factors led to one conclusion: the publications needed professional design.

Some of the team had worked with us before at other organisations, and approached us knowing this was a challenge we could take on. The task: refine the look of the reports, and make them more accessible and more engaging to read.

The work

We worked closely with the ReGenerate team from the outset, to their vision and their clear objectives. One requirement sat above the rest: the finished reports had to meet the standards expected in both governmental and business contexts.

Within that, the craft was in the reading experience: setting long documents so the text flows, and presenting the data so it is clearly visualised and clearly understood.

The report open at a spread of data graphics: a bubble chart of social impact categories on one page and a colour-coded summary of reporting frameworks on the other

Deadlines were tight. Experience meant we could meet them without ever compromising on quality.

A client-led project

ReGenerate knew what they wanted, and the project ran that way: client-led, with our role to refine and elevate the reports to professional standards. It made for a rewarding collaboration: a real partnership, and the client’s vision brought to life on the page.
